From We do not teach the past on Thinking about History Teaching. I’ve recently discovered this blog and I really like his perspective on teaching history. I struggle to do more than “teach facts about the past” in my history classes, and I struggle because that is the emphasis in our state curriculum, so doing anything else always feels somehow underhanded. Yet I know that understanding the distinction he makes above is one of the most important things I can teach my students.
